is this house only a metaphor for the dissolution of a relationship. Think about it...the long hallways where it is dark and you cannot find your way. sound dies. confusion. regret. markers that you thought would bring you back just leave you more stranded. and that other unanmed person (or monster) who may or may not be there growling in the distance (the jealous mind at work) threatening to destroy you.....
or maybe the house is a mataphor for the creation of a work of art. How one must build up slowly, taking chances that lead to nowhere.....
or maybe the house of leaves is a metaphor for a book (house of leaves means that, right? the leaves are the apges of the book?)and how a book's ideas all take you on various different directions, etc, etc......
